Job description

Job Summary:
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Software Configuration Engineer III will be responsible for developing and maintaining configuration management processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support program activities.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards (AS9100, DO-178, DO-254) and company policies
• Manage and control product configurations across the software development lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all software baselines
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, software quality assurance, and Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA), to integrate configuration management best practices into program activities
• Create and maintain configuration management plans, procedures, and documentation to support evolving program requirements
• Conduct Software CCBs, configuration audits and assessments, verify compliance, and implement corrective actions
• Provide technical guidance to software development teams on configuration management topics, software builds
• Participate in program milestone reviews (design reviews, test reviews, production readiness reviews) to ensure configuration management considerations are addressed and documented
Qualifications:
Required:
• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a STEM field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant software configuration management experience
• Hands-on experience with version control systems and change management/agile planning tools
• Demonstrated proficiency in software configuration management technologies, information technology, development/scripting and software build management
• Working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred:
• Understanding of Software Configuration Management principles, concepts, processes, and implementation in Aerospace or Aviation domains
• Familiarity with software industry best practices CMMI, AS9100, DO-178, and DO-254 standards
• Experience with SWCM tools such as GitLab, Artifactory, Jira, Confluence, Jama, Windchill, IBM Rational ClearCase, Synergy, and Jenkins
• Proficiency in scripting languages Perl, Shell, Batch, Python, Ruby, or YAML
• Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines, GitFlow workflows, DevOps and Agile methodologies
• Database administration and SWCM tool administration experience
• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a track record of documenting solutions and sharing knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries
