Job Title: Configuration Management SpecialistJob Description

The Configuration Management Specialist owns and maintains product data, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering changes, and documentation across the entire product lifecycle. This role serves as the primary administrator of product configuration information within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and robust change control to support manufacturing operations. The specialist collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Support to support new products, custom orders, and ongoing product updates. The position is ideal for someone with strong ERP/MRP expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining high-quality product data in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain product configuration information within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability for all product records.
  • Create, update, and manage bills of materials (BOMs) and item master data to support manufacturing operations and product lifecycle activities.
  • Establish and maintain part numbering systems to ensure clear identification and traceability of components and assemblies.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and associated change management workflows, ensuring timely implementation and proper documentation.
  • Control and maintain product documentation and data, including configuration records, drawings, and specifications, across the product lifecycle.
  • Support new product introductions and custom orders by setting up and validating BOMs, item masters, and configuration data in the ERP/MRP system.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Support to ensure product data supports production, order fulfillment, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to change control procedures and configuration management standards to maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and improve data accuracy within ERP and related systems, identifying and correcting discrepancies in product and BOM information.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, prioritizing work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Communicate configuration changes and updates clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across teams.
  • Support manufacturing operations by providing accurate, up-to-date product configurations and documentation for production processes.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management, with responsibility for maintaining product structures and configuration data.
  • 5+ years of experience in product data management (PDM), including ownership of product records and documentation.
  • 5+ years of experience in document control within a manufacturing or product-focused environment.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations through accurate product and BOM data.
  • 5+ years of ERP administration experience, managing product, BOM, and configuration data in enterprise systems.
  • 4+ years of expert-level ERP/MRP experience, including configuration, data management, and process support.
  • 4+ years of experience in BOM creation and maintenance, including complex product structures.
  • 4+ years of experience with item master setup and maintenance in ERP systems.
  • 4+ years of experience working with part numbering systems and ensuring consistent application across products.
  • 4+ years of experience managing engineering change orders (ECOs) and related documentation.
  • 4+ years of experience managing change management workflows in a structured environment.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience, working closely with production processes and operations.
  • 3+ years of experience with change control procedures in a manufacturing or product development context.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting product lifecycle activities from introduction through end-of-life.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to structure and manage large volumes of product data.
  • Proven ability to manage many projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Extreme attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy and consistency.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional communication skills, effectively collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and MRP tools, including hands-on experience with SAP or similar platforms.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting, using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP and tools like Jira to manage product data, BOMs, and change processes. The environment combines office-based administrative work with close interaction with manufacturing operations, providing direct visibility into production processes and product lifecycle activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gilbert, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
