Position Summary
Zachry Construction is seeking Concrete Finishers to work on civil and heavy highway construction projects throughout the region. Concrete Finishers are responsible for smoothing and finishing freshly poured ready-mix concrete on highway surfaces and other concrete structures using hand or power tools. This position requires strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in varying conditions.
What You'll Do
  • Smooth and finish freshly poured ready-mix concrete on highway roadway surfaces and other concrete structures to specified textures using hand or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds.
  • Spread concrete to a specified depth while maintaining proper consistency.
  • Mix sand and cement by hand as needed.
  • Use floats to bring water to the surface and produce a soft topping for a level and smooth finish.
  • Set prefabricated metal and wooden forms to specified grades and alignments.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality, finish, and texture of completed concrete work.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional labor-related duties as directed by the supervisor.

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years of concrete finishing experience on civil, highway, or bridge construction projects.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools such as floats, trowels, and screeds.
  • Ability to spread, smooth, and finish concrete to specified depths and textures.
  • Knowledge of setting and aligning both prefabricated metal and wooden forms.
  • Physically fit to perform duties, including bending, kneeling, or standing for extended periods.
  • Must be flexible to work day or night shifts based on project needs.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Dependable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and focus on safety.
  • Willingness to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a crew.
