What does a Concrete Tech do?

A Concrete Tech, short for Concrete Technician, is responsible for preparing, pouring, and finishing concrete on construction sites. They test the quality of concrete mixes, ensure proper curing, and may also cut, shape, and install concrete forms. Concrete Techs play a crucial role in building foundations, sidewalks, roads, and other structures by following safety standards and construction plans. Their work ensures that concrete structures are durable and meet all required specifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Concrete Tech?

To thrive as a Concrete Tech, you need a solid understanding of concrete mixing, pouring, finishing techniques, and basic math, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with tools like trowels, mixers, power screeds, and safety equipment, as well as knowledge of OSHA regulations, is typically required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and strong work ethic are crucial soft skills for delivering quality work and maintaining site safety. These skills ensure structurally sound results, project efficiency, and adherence to industry standards.
