Hours: 5:50am -2:40pm

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

  • This position collects data in the feed conversion houses and dissection laboratory by using measuring instruments and electronic devices. Other duties may be assigned.

MinimumRequirements:

  • Basic computer skills for inputting dataregardingdissection data via tablet.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect Data and Perform House Checklist within Feed Conversion Housesand Brood Feed Conversion Housesperforming the following duties: weigh chickensinto and out of their cages; record and add feed to feeders as needed; collect data with pen and paper and/or on a computer or tablet; check bird's heart rate and blood oxygen with pulse-oximeter following the accepted protocols; dispose of dead birds as instructed; feed birds according to schedules; clean and disinfect equipment; house set-up;perform routine housekeeping duties; segregate birds according to line and sex as instructed; remove and place birds in cages according to schedules; examine birds for signs of illness and report any problems to lead or manager; monitor controls and thermostats that regulate temperature and humidity of the poultry house; perform simple math as part of recording information according to instructions such as bird weight, feed, added feed, and mortality; repair, align, and construct cages, pens or equipment (feeders, water lines, lights, vents,etc)(50%)

  • Collect Data within Dissection Laboratory performing the following duties: euthanize birds; use scalpel to dissect birds into

specific parts to accepted protocols; visually score for defects in physiology; use a caliper to collect data; enter weights and defects into tablet or computer; dispose of dead dissect birds into incinerators(40%)

Other duties, responsibilities, and activities:

  • These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice,such as:collect swab samples; clean, disinfect, and haul coops; maintain foot bath, hand sanitizer, hydro-foamer, sweep, mop, and other general cleaning; properly euthanize weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy(10%)

  • Thejobsiteis abiosecureenvironment which requires showering,changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.Appropriate clothing and footwearisprovided by the Company.No jewelry may be worn on the jobsiteexcept formedical ID jewelry and body piercings covered byappropriate clothing.Must bewilling to sign an agreement to avoidany avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Physical: Mustuse safe lifting techniques.Mustregularlylift and/or move25pounds,andoccasionallyup to50 pounds, items such as cases of Synergize, supplies,etc;requiredtooccasionallyuse wheeled dollies to lift and/or move up to500 poundsof feed, supplies, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee isregularlyrequired to stand majority of shift on concrete; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; repetitive hand/wrist movements while dissecting birds with scalpel, knife or other cutting instrument; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Must havegood communicationskills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.

  • Tools and Equipment:Scale, Tablet, Scanner, Scalpel, Drill, Safety Knife, Pressure Washer

  • Environment: Requiredto work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, wet and cold environments.

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safetygoggles,safety glasses,face shield, chemical gloves, cutting gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.Ear plugs will be used as needed.NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.

  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectantssuch as Synergize,Virocid,Simple Green, Lysol, etc.

  • Safety:TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify,addressand mitigate safety related risks.
