  1. Overview
    • The primary function is to assist classroom teachers by providing support, aid, and instruction in the use of available hardware and software in the computer lab. The Computer Room Aide is responsible for ensuring that equipment and software within the computer lab are in good working order.
    1. Essential Functions
      • Supports teachers in providing technology enhanced instruction within the computer lab.
      • Supports teachers in providing technology enhanced instruction within the computer lab.

      • Maintains the school's computer lab ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
      • Help to prepare materials for students which meet their individual needs.
      • Maintain in strict confidentiality all privileged information acquired in the hours of service in the schools. It is especially emphasized that the confidentiality of students' evaluations, reports of their progress, and the receipt of personal information about pupils and their backgrounds be scrupulously safeguarded.
      • Exhibit enthusiasm, sincere interest, and genuine concern for all assigned students.
      • Develop an effective and continuing communication of instructional information with the classroom teacher(s) of the students.
      • Work with a specific assigned caseload of students scheduled for set periods of time during the day.
      • Be open to suggestions for improvement in helping pupils, carrying out assigned responsibilities, and assisting building wide operations.
      • Perform non-instructional duties and tasks as assigned by the principal such as hall, restroom, lunchroom, or playground supervision.
      • Discipline any student for any infraction only with the knowledge and consent of the instructional assistant's immediate supervisor using only those procedures established by the classroom teacher and/or principal for use by the instructional assistant.
      • Perform all other duties as assigned by the instructional assistant's immediate supervisor.
      • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator, Special Education Coaches, and/or other administrative leadership team members.
  2. Job Requirements
    1. Basic Qualifications
      • High school diploma, required.
      • Previous experience working and interacting with children, preferred.
      • Experience using various computer platforms, office suite software, Internet browsers, and other computer related equipment, including scanners, burners, and printers preferred, but not required
      • Must have or be able to obtain valid Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances.
    2. Additional Qualifications
      • Strives to maintain professional, cooperative, and respectful relationships with all other District employees.
      • Serve as a pleasant, helpful, and positive representative of Lower Dauphin School District in all interactions with the community.
      • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be cooperative, congenial, service oriented, and a team player along with the ability to work with frequent interruptions and under sometimes stressful conditions.
      • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task, communicate clearly and effectively, work independently, exercise good judgment and follow written and verbal directions.
    3. Physical Demands
      • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
      • Ability to type and use both hands for grasping and repetitive motions.
      • Some bending and twisting of the body required.
      • Visual and audio acuity including ability to read computer screens and written documents.
      • Ability to use the telephone and speak clearly and distinctly.
    4. Work Environment
      • Typical school setting subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
      • Working hours are based upon the school year schedule and student need; however, they will not exceed 7 hours per day.
