Job Description

As an Environmental Designer, Civil 3D expert you’ll play a hands-on role in designing infrastructure and environmental solutions that directly impact communities across the Northeast. You’ll support engineers and project teams by producing accurate, high-quality drawings and survey-based designs that move projects from concept to construction—safely, efficiently, and responsibly.

Core Responsibilities

  • Preparation of plans, specifications, and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D software to support various projects involving environmental remediation, water, wastewater and stormwater management systems

  • Assist with the preparation of permitting packages required by governmental entities including but not limited to the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC), Regional Planning Commission (RPCs), and/or local municipalities

  • Preparation of new details and design elements or modification of existing drawings based on redlines provided by others

  • Ability to interpret and develop detailed drawings from sketches and mark ups provided by others

  • Ability to work with civil engineering & architectural firms and their technical drafting and surveying staff as needed to support redevelopment projects

  • Provide technical support and oversight of AutoCAD drawing production by others

  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with project team members, regulatory agency representatives, etc.

  • Provide general project support

  • Abide by Atlas' health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Surveying or Similar Field of Study

  • 3-10 years of relevant experience with CAD production for projects involving site development, contaminated plume maps, erosion and sedimentation controls, wastewater, and stormwater management systems

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong surveying skills

  • Ability to read and interpret maps and project specifications

  • Ability to travel on occasion

  • A high level of proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D software including but not limited to: building surfaces, grading, creating profiles and sections, developing corridors and working with styles

  • Competent in working with GIS systems and other mapping software is preferred

  • Working knowledge of ESRI software such as ArcGIS is preferred

  • Competent in surveying concepts, skills, and equipment, including but not limited to total station and GPS.
