Job description

Position: Computer/Network Technician I     To Whom Responsible: Technology Director     For Whom/What Responsible: Set-up, maintain, test, and do minor repairs of all district computers.  Assist in the maintenance of the district's LAN/WAN.   Will be a software specialist and assist the district staff in the use of computer systems, network services, and computer software throughout the district.     Qualifications:
High School Graduate, technical aptitude, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, ability to work under deadlines and pressure situations, high degree of ethics, and ability to work with little supervision.
Experience is preferred in education and in use of software.  Some college education or equivalent experience.


    Primary Responsibilities: Work with the Technology Director and the District Instructional Technology Coordinator to implement the technology plan.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  1. Computer Set-Up and Inventory
    1. Unpack, connect and test computers, printers, and other peripherals.
    2. Configure all computers for LAN/WAN access.
    3. Install and configure operating systems and authorized software.
    4. Maintain a complete inventory of all district computer hardware and software.
    5. Disconnect, move, reconnect and test computers to new locations as needed,
       
  2. Computer Maintenance
    1. Troubleshoot computer and software problems throughout the district
    2. Perform minor hardware maintenance and repairs.
    3. Clean district computers on a scheduled basis.
    4. Install and test additional hardware when allowed by warranty.
    5. Maintains a database of requested and scheduled maintenance.
       
  3. Network Maintenance
    1. Assist Director of Technology with network hardware installation, configuration and maintenance.
    2. Assist Director of Technology in managing the active directory of users and devices (Microsoft & Google)
    3. Assist Director of Technology in monitoring and managing cybersecurity platforms.
       
  4. Staff Development
    1. Guide staff through using our system and applications.
    2. Teach staff technology best practices.
       
  5. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, administrators, and parents/community.
     
  6. Understands and encourages the ethical use of technology.
     
  7. Other duties as assigned.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Computer/Network technician staff is employed for 261 days.  Compensation is according to the non-certified salary schedule and based upon position category, experience, and years of service.  Non-certified benefits are offered according to full versus part time status, and explained in the district's benefit brochure.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated by the building administrator in cooperation with the manager of information services according to board policies and adopted procedures for support staff members.
