Job description

CAD Designer – Physical Security Systems

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Industry: Physical Security / Low Voltage Systems Integration

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to support the design and documentation of physical security systems for commercial and enterprise environments. This role is responsible for creating accurate, code-compliant drawings and layouts for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and other low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient in AutoCAD, and comfortable collaborating with engineering, sales, and project teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain CAD drawings, schematics, floor plans, and system layouts for physical security projects
  • Create detailed design documentation for access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and structured cabling systems
  • Review architectural and construction plans to ensure design accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and installation teams throughout project lifecycles
  • Update drawings based on design revisions, field conditions, and customer requirements
  • Ensure documentation adheres to industry standards, codes, and company best practices
  • Manage multiple project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of CAD design experience supporting low-voltage, security, or systems integration projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, blueprints, and floor plan interpretation
  • Knowledge of physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the physical security, low-voltage, or systems integration industry
  • Familiarity with access control platforms, VMS solutions, and security device manufacturers
