JOB SUMMARY

Oversees day-to-day functions of overall tote operation, tote system operation, including hiring, scheduling, and staff development at racetrack, invoicing customers and prepare paperwork for racetrack and corporate offices, trouble reports, inventories, and cycling spare parts, order supplies, troubleshooting, maintain hardware and interacts with state racing officials.ย  Position is that of a working supervisor as the incumbent operates and techs on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the day-to-day functions of the overall tote operation at a specific worksite.
  • Working with general manager, assists with the hiring, scheduling and development of qualified staff at the racetrack.
  • Performs tote system data entry and verification.
  • Performs tote board general maintenance and operations
  • Responsible for reviewing the invoicing of customers and the preparation of other paperwork for the racetrack and the corporate office such as trouble reports.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of inventories and the cycling of spare parts and equipment.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies.
  • Ensures that all hardware is properly maintained and in good working order. Includes moving and relocating lines and equipment as needed.
  • Required to interact with customers, racetrack management personnel, and state officials in a professional manner.
  • Maintain costs at the site, including minimizing OT, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have good understanding of pari-mutuel wagering and racing operations.ย  Must be able to lead and direct employees.ย ย  Must possess a good understanding of trouble shooting procedures and the ability to report and document problems as they occur.ย  Must have a thorough working knowledge of the tote software and hardware and able to lead the installation, updates and testing processes.ย  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites, computer hardware, network, point of sale terminal, tote board technology and functionality, data center and field service operations.ย  Good written and verbal communication skills are required.ย  Close vision and good hearing are required for console and radio work. Must be able to service off-track betting locations and operate a company vehicle.ย 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED. Tote operator experience and electrical and/or computer experience.ย ย ย 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

ย Fast paced environment requiring normal movement around and between geographic facilities.ย  Position requires to be licensed by the proper racing and/or gaming authorities within the region.ย  Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, able to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.ย  ย Some travel may be required as the workloads dictate.ย  Must be punctual and have reliable transportation.
