As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Design Specialist - Test in Waterloo !

The Design Specialist - Test is responsible for the design, performance, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of both hardware and software test systems used to evaluate product and component performance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality and manufacturability by developing robust test coverage, analyzing performance trends, and supporting the transition of new products from engineering into production.

Working closely with crossfunctional teams-including engineering, manufacturing, and technical support-the Design Specialist - Test integrates multiple tools, processes, and technologies to improve test effectiveness, reliability, and scalability.


What You Will Do
The duties and responsibilities outlined below reflect the core functions of the role. However, the organization may assign additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to meet operational and strategic objectives. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the scope of the role may evolve in response to changing business needs.

  • Design, modify, and enhance test infrastructure to improve performance, reliability, and coverage

  • Develop new test files and test plans to address gaps in test coverage and support new product introductions

  • Design and implement new test setups for evolving product requirements

  • Analyze test results to identify trends in product performance and test stability

  • Deploy new or updated test files into the manufacturing environment

  • Design and develop software tools to support other functional groups based on operational needs

  • Review new product designs for technical accuracy and test readiness

  • Assign tasks to technical support associates and monitor progress to ensure timely execution

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, technology advancement, and new product enablement

  • Support the transition of products from engineering to production, ensuring smooth handoff and manufacturability

What you need

Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree or PhD with no prior experience
