Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The SOC Intern is an entry level position that will aid in the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations

Center. This role will use a variety of tools to investigate potential incidents and take immediate action or

recommend a course of action to safeguard Aspireโ€™s Managed Service Clients. Interns will be trained on our

process and will assist our staff with security investigations when necessary. Due to the nature of this position,

the candidate will be required to work from our Main office (within NJ)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: OTHER DUTIES MAY

BE ASSIGNED.

  • Ensure that all SOC tickets are handled and resolved within SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Investigating, documenting all incidents, and reporting on security alerts with a clear narrative that supports their conclusions.
  • Investigate and provide technical analysis of various security incidents and possible compromise of systems.
  • Regularly Shadow Tier 1 Analysts to observe daily work routine and receive on-the-job training.
  • Support the Tier 1 Analyst and escalate events to Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 for review before completing event notation to ensure correctness in reviews.
  • Analysis and advising, providing recommendations on incident remediation.
  • Correlation of data from various sources and determining if a critical system or data set has been impacted.
  • Update or create documentation of security tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Research on emerging threats, staying up to date with current security vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures.
  • Perform routine follow up with clients to address outstanding client questions or resolve tickets.
  • Act according to all NSOC procedures and processes.
  • Understand the lifecycle of a ticket according to ITILv4 standards.
  • Handle calls from our clients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain a timesheet tracking activities performed within our ITSM platform with detailed notes.
  • Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
