Job Description:
The Software Engineer II is responsible for coding, testing, debugging, maintaining, and enhancing software applications. This position participates in multiple phases of the software development lifecycle and works on major application initiatives while receiving high-level guidance and support. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver with experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of significant software components and features, breaking complex initiatives into manageable tasks and establishing measurable goals.
  • Develop software solutions using applicable programming languages and technologies to meet business requirements. [
  • Write, test, debug, maintain, and document software applications and enhancements.
  • Develop reusable code and implement automation for application deployment processes.
  • Create and execute functional testing scenarios and scripts to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Work independently on assigned project components while providing regular progress updates.
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to coding standards and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Software Engineers.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of production incidents and application issues.
  • Communicate technical challenges, project risks, and roadblocks to stakeholders, management, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and business teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of software development experience.
  • Experience with .NET development using C# and/or VB.NET.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL and relational database applications.
  • Familiarity with web service development.
  • Experience with application design, development, deployment, and production support.
  • Understanding of object-oriented software design principles.
  • Understanding of microservice-based architectures and containerization technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn new technologies and industry trends.
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience working within the financial technology (FinTech), banking, credit union, payments, or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with front-end development using Angular.
  • Familiarity with desktop application development using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).
