Job description

WEBB is currently seeking an Assistant Engineer Intern to support engineering projects across various departments and disciplines, including but not limited to Traffic & Transportation, Water Resources, and Construction Management & Inspection. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer or recent graduate who is eager to gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that positively impact communities.

The Assistant Engineer Intern will work under the guidance of Project Managers and senior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the organization, and support project delivery from planning through design.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a technical support role under the direction of a Project Manager or senior engineer on a variety of engineering projects.
  • Complete assigned tasks independently and collaboratively within established schedules and budgets.
  • Assist with the preparation and/or modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Develop project quantities and assist with cost estimates.
  • Provide organizational and administrative support for design files and project documentation.
  • Perform research, data collection, field investigations, and assist with the development and design of projects.
  • Support preparation of engineering designs, planning documents, and PS&E packages as applicable.
  • Coordinate with various design disciplines, which may include structures, drainage, stormwater, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way, and environmental teams.
  • Assist with workload coordination throughout project development to help ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of experience (internship or academic project experience acceptable)
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program (or currently pursuing)
  • I.T. certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
  • General knowledge of applicable engineering standards and guidelines (e.g., Caltrans, AASHTO, MUTCD, APWA), or a strong willingness to learn
