Job Description: JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining computer equipment and providing support to anyone within the Company who needs technological assistance. The PC Technician performs maintenance to configure components and software and installs routine updates to system software. The position also is responsible for the installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software devices and equipment, as well as provides help desk support; works with users to troubleshoot problems with computing hardware and related electronic devices and systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Carries out repair, modification, and installation of computer software, hardware, and peripheral devices, and resolves issues within area of training and authority
Performs installation of new IT software and hardware packages as instructed
Performs research on technical problems and suggest the right upgrades, repairs, and replacement as necessary
Refers more complex technical issues beyond own expertise, training, and experience to senior technical staff for resolution; ensures tracking of the issue until it has been resolved
Configures, tests, updates, and repairs computing and other office equipment.
Sets up or repairs computer hardware and other associated devices such as printers and scanners
Sets up hardware and installs and configure software and drivers
Sets up and configures computers and peripheral equipment such as printers, scanners, etc
Ensures all software and hardware is up-to-date and install updates as required
Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good customer relationship and communications skills
Good experience with windows software, networks, and microcomputer
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Ability to analyze and diagnose problems and work independently to solve them
Listening skills
Proven experience as computer technician or similar role
Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
Exemplify strong attention to detail
Must have strong time management skills and work productively with minimal supervision
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1+ years’ experience in a technical support or customer service role is desired
At least one year experience providing IT technical support
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Anti-Virus, Networking hardware and Citrix PC, Email, TCP/IP Topologies, PC Emulation, Internet security
Possess high school diploma or its equivalent qualification, such as GED
Certificate or associate degree in a relevant field is an asset
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to sit/stand for long periods of timeMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
