Job description

Job Title: Computer Technician
Reports To:  Operations Technology Manager
Location:  District  
Position Summary: The computer technician supports academic and administrative computing throughout the district
Salary:$48,162.87 per year as stated in the Technician's contract
Education:  





  • Graduation from an accredited high school or the equivalent
  • Technical school graduate with a degree in hardware and software support or 2 years of work experience in the same area
  • Valid motor vehicle driver's license

 
Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the operation of workstations: Chromebooks, PC and Macintosh, and provide repairs when needed
  • Responds to work orders, help desk inquiries and customer service requests.
  • Provide support in person, by telephone, and via email
  • Relocate computer hardware, peripherals and equipment as needed
  • Installation of maintenance of other network devices including wireless access points, switches, printing, photocopying devices and security cameras.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
  • Must have excellent time and project management skills
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as independently with minimal supervision if necessary
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with students and staff in a positive and proactive manner
  • The individual must be able to lift and transport heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

  • Ability to concentrate on detail and issue with some interruption, pressure and changing priorities.
  • Memory to perform multiple and diverse tasks over long periods of time and the ability to remember information that has been previously learned.
  • Ability to use knowledge and reasoning to solve routine problems.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information, technology and legislation applicable to departmental activities.
  • Ability to distinguish between public and confidential information and handle appropriately.
