IDEA Intern

 

Mission:

The Intern supports IDEA’s mission by contributing to day-to-day team operations, project execution, and administrative priorities while developing foundational professional skills in a collaborative work environment.

Location:

National Role: This is a part time temporary hybrid (part remote/part HQ office or campus) position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:    

Travel to IDEA training events or step-back may be required.

 What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 Essential Duties:

  • Support assigned team with daily operational, administrative, and project-related tasks.
  • Assist with organizing, tracking, and maintaining information relevant to team priorities.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, presentations, or materials to support team initiatives.
  • Support special projects and follow-up activities as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional support to assigned district department and hiring manager 
  • Set professional development goals, receive feedback on progress, and make necessary changes to reach maximum career potential 
  • Manage multiple responsibilities with changing deliverables 
  • Provide excellent customer service and partnership with all internal and external stakeholders 
  • Respond to Help Desk support tickets in a timely manner and with strong customer satisfaction ratings 
  • Enter data to support data accuracy and processing across various systems and platforms 
  • Analyze data and create reports to drive decision-making 
  • Effectively and efficiently complete projects or support execution of projects across their lifecycle   
  • Set up and track student and staff technology  
  • Troubleshoot, repair and install computer systems 
  • Configure and automate software installations  
  • Provide administrative, logistical, operational, and event support 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required experience:

·          Knowledge in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

·          Strong customer service skills

·          Multi-task oriented

Preferred experience:  

  • Currently enrolled in college (Spring 2026) and completed a minimum of 1 academic semester with a cumulative GPA or 2.5 or higher 
  • Preference given to graduates of IDEA Public Schools (not a requirement to be an IDEA alumni) 

 

Physical Requirements:

·          Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area

·          Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

·          Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 15 pounds (occasionally)

Duration: 15 weeks

Maximum Hours per Week: 20

Pay Rate: $11 hourly
