Job Description:
Analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems by applying knowledge of computer science principles in order to implement and improve DoD/IC computer systems and networks. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially-available software. Lead the planning and execution of cloud infrastructure and modernization efforts within a Microsoft Azure-based enterprise environment supporting U.S. Navy. Oversee technical initiatives and implementation roadmaps, coordinate integrated product teams, and deliver automated patching and configuration management capabilities for Windows and Linux cloud platforms. Enhance cybersecurity and compliance posture through vulnerability remediation, secure configuration management, and adherence to DoD and Navy policies. Provision, configure, and sustain secure Azure cloud resources, perform system verification and validation, and brief technical approaches and program status to Navy leadership.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee cloud modernization and infrastructure initiatives within an AWS-based enterprise environment, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and performance targets.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor complex technical projects, including roadmap development, milestone tracking, and progress reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate agile project activities such as daily team coordination sessions and cross-functional meetings to maintain schedule, scope, and delivery commitments.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve enterprise patching and configuration management solutions using MECM/SCCM and Ansible automation.
  • Enhance cybersecurity posture by reviewing and optimizing AWS security group configurations, eliminating redundancies, and remediating identified vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain vulnerability management and patch compliance processes, including updates to IAVM policies and supporting procedures.
  • Lead cross-organizational efforts to deploy enterprise-wide system management capabilities that improve operational efficiency and reduce vulnerability remediation time.
  • Engineer and maintain automation scripts and workflows supporting configuration, patching, and lifecycle management of Windows and Linux (RHEL) cloud systems.
  • Provision, configure, and sustain secure Windows and RHEL server instances within a private cloud/DoD environment.
  • Perform independent verification and validation (IV&V) activities and maintain technical documentation for enterprise platforms and services.
  • Drive continuous service improvement through metrics tracking, tool utilization (e.g., Jira, Confluence), and process optimization across cloud operations and projects.
  • Present technical concepts, solution designs, and program status to senior leadership and executive stakeholders to support strategic technology decisions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Of the minimum of three (3) years of required experience, at least one (1) year of experience performing computer system analyst functions on DoD or IC communication systems or networks.
  • Active DoD 8570/8140 compliant baseline certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CISSP, SSCP, or equivalent) required prior to start.

Desired Qualification:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
  • Industry certifications, such as:
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
    • Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
    • DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Engineering (any discipline), Computer Science, Information Technology, or other technical discipline. (Six (6) years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.)

  • Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
  • Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels.
  • Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30-50 pounds.
  • Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components.
  • Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
  • Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation.
  • May require walking between different buildings or workstations.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users.
  • May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues
