Job description

The Chemical Process Technician will play an integral part in the Dalton Operations Team. The ideal candidate will excel in problem solving, critical thinking, information processing, mechanical aptitude, computer skills, process thinking, and teamwork skills. These skills are applied in the safe, reliable, operation of a modern highly automated plant.

This onsite role will be located at the Dalton, GA latex plant and report directly to the Operations Leader.


  • Monitoring process control computer systems to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, high quality and reliable operations.
  • Following procedures and completing a diverse range of tasks and inspections to keep the plant in compliance with external and internal requirements.
  • Completing laboratory analytical tests to verify product quality.
  • Operates Wastewater Treatment plant and Utilities required to run the Latex Plant like: CTW, Boiler, wastewater treatment
  • Performing field checks and troubleshooting of process equipment, unsafe conditions, alarm assessment, routine equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete SWP, LOTO, Procedure Reviews to ensure we maintain a safe and compliance operation.
  • Interfaces well with many electronic computer systems.
  • Collecting and reporting plant measurements related to performance, asset utilization, quality, costs yields, EH&S, production rates, etc.
  • Understands chemical processing fundamentals in reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and mass transfer.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and makes improvements when appropriate. 
  • Ensuring operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and professional work environment at all times.

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong computer skills are required, especially in Microsoft products.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  •  Ability to drive a fork truck will be required (training will be provided).
  • Prior operating experience or maintenance experience in a production facility is preferred (2 to 10 years).
  • Prior experience utilizing Distributed Process Control Systems for optimal plant operations is not required, but highly preferred (2 to 10 years)
  • Chemical handling prior experience is preferred.
  • Technical skills required; basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot pumps, automated valves, instrumentation, etc.
  • Must be physically able to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 50 pounds. During periods of plant shutdown, prolonged walking, bending, and squatting are also required.
  • Must be able to work some type of rotating shift.      
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and using aerial lifts. 
  • Must be able to work independently without a lot of supervision.
  • Must be able to wear a Full Face Respirator and be successfully fit tested.
