Job description

Responsible for reviewing clinical Oncology protocols to identify the build changes necessary to satisfy those protocols. Participates in protocol validation with the Hematology and Oncology department on a regular basis. Reviews and implements Epic Beacon changes as part of our quarterly Epic upgrade cycle. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of computer systems, applications and interfaces. Demonstrates proficiency in all skills required to facilitate complex application and systems enhancements or replacements. Analyzes and resolves complex system integration problems. Creates pre- and post-project benchmarking metrics. Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the CT Children's business functions. Demonstrates advanced proficiency in creating detailed documentation, including system design documentation, procedures, process and data flows, RFPs, project plans, and recommendations for system enhancements and replacements. Communicates effectively with clients, colleagues, developers, and organizational administration. Provides estimates for moderate to complex work efforts. Demonstrates comprehensive degree of analytical skills. Supports multiple concurrent projects, educates and coaches other team members, and manages client expectations. Manages tasks, resources, and project plans for team assignments. Drives and contributes to decision-making process related to their advanced pharmacist degree. Daily support of the hospital's pharmacy IT systems (Epic Willow module). Potential arrangement for designated clinical time in the hospital's pharmacy will be considered

Demonstrates an intermediate understanding of the CT Children's business functions. May require specialized knowledge in a specific application/computer system. Creates detailed work-related specifications, system design documentation, procedures, process and data flows, and project and change management plans. Communicates effectively with clients and colleagues. Demonstrates proficient degree of analytical skills. Supports multiple concurrent work efforts, educates and coaches other team members, and works with minimal supervision in support of team initiatives.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Education Required: High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school, is required.

Education and/or Experience Preferred:

  • Education Preferred: BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related Health Care field, or equivalent demonstrated work experience preferred.
  • Experience Preferred: Two to five years relevant experience within a healthcare environment highly desired or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and capability preferred.
  • One to three years Information Systems Analyst experience highly desired. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc.). Knowledge of project development life cycle preferred

License and/or Certification Required:

  • For Epic applications teams, at least one relevant Epic certification is required.
  • For non-Epic applications, a relevant certification is desired, if available.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Web-based technologies, processes, and analytics
  • Employing software quality assurance and testing concepts, techniques, industry best practices, tools and standards.
  • Best practices in Nurse Scheduling, Time and Attendance, Human Resources, Payroll, and Labor Analytics is preferred.

Ability of:

  • Employ software quality assurance and testing concepts, techniques, industry best practices, tools and standards.
  • The responsibilities of a Systems Analyst encompass identical responsibilities as an Associate Systems Analyst, but with a greater degree of complexity. A Systems Analyst also:
  • Employs proficient analytical skills to define systems information requirements and objectives for system application and interface maintenance or application enhancement requests and communicates to clients and programmers.
  • Identifies data element conversion needs in existing applications.
  • Prepares written documentation of the need for application changes or replacements, and coordinates staff and manages project plans for their implementation.
  • Drafts project scope plans, project plans, and issue logs; monitors and reports status of project plans to Lead IS staff and/or manager.
  • Prepares formal change implementation plans and monitors their implementation. Educate and coach other team members and work with minimal supervision in support of team members.
  • Provides technical expertise in the supported application. Works with application stakeholders to improve the effective utilization of the application.
  • May provide agreed levels of system administration and configuration.
  • Reports project issues and staff performance issues to Principal / Supervisor.
  • Participates in, develops, implements, documents and validates comprehensive test plans complying with current standards, designed to produce successful and failed outcomes.
  • Functions as a liaison to the system users and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical requirements, data flows and process flows.
  • Educates analysts and programmers on business requirements, objectives and operational needs and the relevant system applications.
  • Participates in the system selection process, including needs assessment, RFP and vendor selection.
  • May be required to travel to/from and work in the various CCMC locations, including patient care areas.
  • May be required to travel for mandatory certifications.
  • Understand and comply with all enterprise and IS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CT Children's information.
  • Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or
    other confidential information
