WCC is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when part-time and/or on-call instructors are needed to teach Computer Systems Technology credit courses. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, resume and transcripts, you will be considered for future part-time and/or on-call teaching opportunities on a per course basis.
The successful part time instructor will be expected to provide quality instruction related to computer systems hardware and operating systems, and introductory networking courses in a classroom setting or online as needed.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Teach beginning operating system installations, introduction to networking, computer hardware and troubleshooting.
โ€ข Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
โ€ข Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals.
โ€ข Adhere to course syllabus and submission of any data needed to complete Assessment Reports.
โ€ข Evaluate student progress through day to day evaluation, written examinations and overall observation.
โ€ข Prepare and grade exams, assignments, and/or lab reports in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students in the class, meeting all institutional deadlines for completion.
โ€ข Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed.
โ€ข Participate in professional activities including, but not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities.
โ€ข Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
โ€ข Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule:
Schedules vary according to class schedules. Part time Instructors may teach up to (8) eight contact hours per week or 120 contact hours per semester. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment. This position is looking for someone who is available to teach face to face on weekdays and nights.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
โ€ข Earned a Master's Degree from a regionally accredited Institution in computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, engineering, or a computer related field OR a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution plus a minimum of five years of job experience in the computer information system area directly related to the course materials being taught, AND at least one relevant industry certification (Microsoft, CISCO, etc. as appropriate to the course).
