Job description

The Epic Bridges Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, optimization, and supportย 
of Epic Bridges interfaces and interoperability solutions across the organization. The role serves as the primaryย 
subject matter expert for healthcare data exchange, system integrations, interface development, andย 
interoperability workflows, ensuring seamless communication between Epic and internal and external systems.ย 
The Epic Bridges Analyst partners closely with operational leaders, application analysts, integration engineers,ย 
clinical stakeholders, revenue cycle teams, vendors, and technical teams to design and support secure, reliable,ย 
and scalable interface solutions. The position plays a critical role in enabling data exchange, supporting patientย 
care workflows, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and organizational interoperability strategiesย 
through Epic Bridges and related technologies.ย

  • 3 years of healthcare information technology, application support, systems integration,ย 
    interface development, or Epic-related experience, required.
  • 1 year of experience with systems analysis, interface troubleshooting, testing, and technicalย 
    documentation, required.
  • ย 1 year of experience supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, optimizations, or large-scaleย 
    healthcare technology projects, preferred.ย 
  • 1 year of experience with Cloverleaf, Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or other interface engines, preferred.ย 
  • 1 year of experience with SQL, data analysis, and database concepts, preferred.ย 
  • 1 year of experience supporting clinical, revenue cycle, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, orย 
    third-party system integrations, preferred.ย 
  • 1 year of experience working within integrated healthcare delivery systems, preferred.ย 
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer engineering, computer science, health informatics, health information management, information technology, information systems, or other related field, required OR, four years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.ย 
  • Epic certification or ability to attain Epic certification(s) in assigned module(s) within a defined timeframe to be determined at time of hire.

As part of our selection process, candidates being considered for this position will be required to complete a Sphinx Assessment, which is used to evaluate job-related competencies and determine overall suitability for the role. Successful completion of the assessment is a required component of the hiring process.

This position also requires active participation in various phases of the Epic application lifecycle, including but not limited to implementation, go-live support, stabilization, optimization, and system upgrades. Candidates must be willing and able to accommodate the demands associated with these activities, which may include:

  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment and may require a minimum of 25% onsite presence to support operational and business needs.
  • Working additional hours outside of regularly scheduled business hours, including evenings and weekends, as project needs dictate.
  • Participating in on-site go-live and support activities across multiple organizational locations.
  • Traveling occasionally for Epic training, certification, project meetings, or other work-related purposes, including travel outside of the state.
  • Traveling between organizational facilities to provide operational, project, and end-user support.

Candidates should be prepared to maintain flexibility in their schedules to support critical project milestones and organizational operational needs.

  • Designs, builds, configures, tests, implements, and maintains Epic Bridges interfaces and interoperability solutions. Analyze business, clinical, operational, and technical requirements to develop effective integration solutions. Configures interface transactions, message routing, communication protocols, and integration workflows. Develops and maintains application documentation, technical specifications, interface inventories, and support documentation. Ensures interface design aligns with organizational standards, Epic best practices, and interoperability requirements.
  • Designs and supports HL7, FHIR, API, X12, DICOM, and other healthcare interoperability solutions. Develops and maintains interfaces between Epic and ancillary, clinical, financial, and third-party systems. Coordinates data mapping, transformation, validation, and interface configuration activities. Collaborates with internal and external vendors regarding integration requirements and implementation activities. Ensures data integrity, reliability, and secure transmission across integrated systems.ย 
  • Provides advanced support for Epic Bridges interfaces and interoperability workflows. Monitors interface queues, message processing, error logs, and system performance. Troubleshoots interface failures, transaction errors, data inconsistencies, and integration issues. Performs root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions. Collaborates with Epic, vendors, infrastructure teams, and application analysts to resolve complex issues.ย 
  • Develops and executes unit, system, interface, integrated, regression, and user acceptance testingย 
    plans. Validates interface functionality, message processing, and end-to-end workflow performance. Creates test scenarios and test scripts for interface implementations and enhancements. Coordinates testing activities with stakeholders, vendors, and project teams. Ensures all solutions meet operational, technical, security, and compliance requirements.ย 
  • Participates in Epic implementations, acquisitions, expansions, upgrades, and optimization projects. Supports integration planning, requirements gathering, technical design, and deployment activities. Provides go-live readiness assessments and implementation support. Assists with command center activities and issue management during deployment periods. Supports stabilization efforts and post-implementation optimization activities.ย 
  • Collaborates with application teams, operational leaders, technical teams, and vendors to understandย 
    interoperability requirements. Translates operational and technical requirements into interface solutions and system integrations. Supports interdisciplinary initiatives requiring data exchange across multiple platforms. Provides guidance regarding interface capabilities, limitations, and best practices. Promotes standardization of integration design and data exchange processes.ย 
  • Supports organizational interoperability strategies, data sharing initiatives, and information exchangeย 
    efforts. Participates in data governance activities affecting interface design and data movement. Ensures compliance with organizational standards for data integrity, privacy, and security. Supports implementation of interoperability standards and industry best practices. Assists with integration architecture reviews and long-term interoperability planning.ย 
  • Monitors interface performance, system utilization, and operational metrics. Identifies opportunities toย 
    improve reliability, efficiency, scalability, and maintainability of integrations. Recommends processย 
    improvements and system enhancements. Participates in governance and optimization initiatives to maximize interoperability effectiveness. Remains current on Epic interoperability tools, healthcare integration standards, and industry trends.ย 
  • ย Ensures integration solutions comply with organizational policies, privacy requirements, and regulatory standards. Supports compliance with HIPAA, information security requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of interfaces, testing activities, and system changes. Supports audit readiness and regulatory review activities. Adheres to Epic implementation methodologies, technical standards, and organizational governance processes.ย
