Career Opportunity

We are looking for candidates to fill a System Analyst position at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Systems Analyst will have adequate experience and training to effectively perform the Test Director duties listed below:

  • Set up combat systems labs for mission events. Setup involves coordination with SCSC's customers, Combat Systems, and Operations departments to identify event equipment and computer program configuration; obtain computer programs and electronic data from the Technical Library or electronic load management system; installation of computer programs; loading of computers and energizing equipment in accordance with procedures; establishment of interface switch paths; performing system checkout; and other site preparations necessary to ensure the readiness of the requested systems and equipment to support a successful mission event. Collect system recorded data during the event. Response to customer issues during the event. Perform systematic take down at the completion of the mission event. Provide technical support during events.
  • Provide comprehensive readiness, preventive, and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting support at the equipment and system level and restoration of equipment and systems to design specifications for all combat system facilities at SCSC.
  • Provide on-the-job training to the Navy members of the integrated maintenance team and computer operators.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance to minimize system and equipment downtime to maximize mission support, while still maintaining high system availability and meeting planned maintenance schedules.
  • Promptly report to leadership the status of systems and equipment that are not functioning properly and have the potential to impact customer events.

Travel

  • This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Must have a minimum of four years leading a team of technical/tactical operators engaged in the employment of Surface Weapon Systems as part of the Combat Systems Training Team.
  • Must have three years of technical experience, on AEGIS or SSDS Baselines, with the technical knowledge to bring combat systems up from cold iron status to support testing.
  • Must have been an E-6 or above.
  • Must be Combat Systems Officer of the Watch or Combat System Maintenance Manager qualified.
  • Electronic technician background with SSDS or AEGIS experience.
  • Experience working in an RDT&E environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with ACCESS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.
  • Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor and/or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear a safety harness, climb vertical ladders, and work on elevated platforms greater than 15 feet in height.
