Job Summary:

The Store Manager will plan and lead the daily operations of the convenience store in an ongoing effort to increase store sales and profitability.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the store. Schedules and assigns staff to ensure efficient operations and optimal customer experience.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with policy.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve customer service and experience on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensures a consistent, efficient, pleasant customer experience; resolves any customer service issues, complaints, or requests.
  • Continually seeks and identifies methods to increase store sales and profitability; makes recommendations and/or implements changes as appropriate.
  • Develops metrics, milestones, and goals for employees; ensures goals are met.
  • Collaborates with corporate representatives to develop and implement budgets, sales goals, marketing strategies, and promotions.
  • Ensures physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of all store facilities.
  • Develops and/or implements inventory control and security systems.
  • Assesses periodic financial reports, evaluating performance against goals and implementing improvements and changes as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  Required / Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) – many postings list this as the basic education. 

  • Experience in retail operations (e.g., working in a store or convenience retail environment) – ability to manage daily store flow, customer service, stock, and staffing. 

  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills – interacting with customers, resolving issues, leading staff.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays – 

  • Physical ability to perform store duties (standing for long periods, some heavy lifting, etc). F

  • Legal right to work in the U.S. (if in the U.S.) and other standard employment eligibility.


 Preferred / Ideal Qualifications
  • Previous management or supervisory experience (team lead, assistant manager, store lead) in a retail or convenience setting.

  • Experience managing budgets, P&L (profit & loss), store sales growth, inventory control. 

  • Ability to use point of sale (POS) systems, scheduling software, maybe basic computer skills for reporting.

  • Strong leadership, team building, coaching/mentoring skills – to develop staff and lead store culture.

  • Knowledge of loss prevention, safety, regulatory compliance, fuel station, etc.

  • Retail management or related field

  • Maintain cleanliness of gas bay/pumps & parking lot/grass island(s) 

  • Emphasize sales growth & profitability

  • Experience with fuel retail operations, convenience store bestpractices, merchandising, vendor relations, that could help distinguish you.

  • Must be willing to undergo a background check & drug screen.
