Job description

An employee in this class works with a variety of Town staff and assists in the testing, maintaining, and monitoring of computer applications and systems. Key components include the Town's hardware/server systems, network infrastructure, databases, and business applications. Work includes assessing the usefulness of pre-developed application packages and adapting them to the Town's user environment; recommending new equipment or software packages; and determining computer software or hardware needed to meet organizational goals. The employee must also develop, revise and document system design procedures; test procedures, and quality standards, expand or modify systems to serve new purposes or improve work flow, and coordinate systems within the organization so that information can be shared. Work may occasionally require evening and weekend hours, is performed mostly independently with direction from department leadership, and is evaluated on quality and effectiveness of the work output as defined by technology standards and user reports.

This position reports to an Information Technology Supervisor.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
