Position Summary: Provides telephone and face-to-face technical support to faculty, staff, and students regarding computer software, hardware, and network issues in a help desk setting, both walk-up and in offices/classrooms.

Essential Functions:
Installs images and additional licensed software supported by ITS on desktop, lab, and mediated classroom computers, and additional software on desktop, lab, and mediated classroom equipment with departmental and ITS leadership approval.
Installs and registers on the network, University computer systems in labs, offices, and mediated classrooms.
Troubleshoots hardware and software issues through diagnostic tests, Internet research, and vendor consultation, and implements the best course of action for resolution.
Works with vendors, online and through telephone support, to obtain replacement parts and install computer hardware components.
Provides telephone and face-to-face support to Washburn employees regarding computer software, hardware, and network issues; refers issues to other areas of ITS for resolution when necessary.
Maintains records of daily activities, including installations, troubleshooting, and repairs, to track user-specific issues, equipment maintenance, and invoicing customers for parts.
Updates inventory records as necessary to provide for the correct location and identification of computer assets.
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience in technical support.
Demonstrated effective problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Demonstrated experience with Windows operating systems, at a technical support level.
CompTia A+ certification is required within six months of employment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to move equipment weighing as much as 50 pounds on a daily basis.
Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., occasional weekend hours work may be requested to support university activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
CompTia A+ certification.
Associate or post-secondary degree in computers or electronics.
Experience working in an educational environment.
Experience working with macOS, and iOS operating systems and devices.

Hourly, full-time, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
