Field Service Engineer - San Luis Obispo, CA - Eligible for $5,000 Sign-On Bonus  

Job Description Statement:

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality technical service and support to medical imaging customers. The technician will install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain medical imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with all operational and safety standards. Working independently in the field, this position diagnoses and resolves technical issues while adhering to OEM specifications, industry regulations, and company quality requirements. Through expert problem-solving and customer-focused service, this role helps ensure reliable imaging performance for healthcare partners.

Essential Job Duties:

• Service, install, evaluate, and maintain medical imaging equipment across the United States.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair imaging systems and computer components to meet OEM specifications and customer expectations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and resolve advanced electronic, mechanical, and network-related issues.
• Represent the company professionally during on-site visits and communicate customer feedback to internal teams.
• Expand technical knowledge continually and contribute to improving engineering competency.
• Provide timely project updates, insights, and responses to technical inquiries to support decision-making and customer satisfaction.
• Document new processes and provide training to end users, while supporting additional duties as needed.
• Ensure updates, calibrations or repairs are completed properly by running tests or diagnostics.
• Driving and vehicle operation are essential functions of this role.

Experience and Education Requirements:

Preferred Experience

• 3-7 years’ experience in medical imaging engineering or equivalent; ideal candidate will have Philips and/or GE CT/MR field service experience.

Education (or equivalent experience)

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.

Travel Requirements:

Frequent driving 30%+, Load, transport, deliver parts/equipment. Meet driver eligibility requirements. Minimum age 21, refer to company vehicle policy.

This role may involve

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout various work environments for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to access and service equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds; heavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical aids.
• Manual dexterity to handle tools, small components, and electronic parts.
• Visual acuity and color perception sufficient to read schematics, calibrate equipment, and identify wiring or indicators.
• Ability to communicate clearly with healthcare and related facility staff, as well as document service activities accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in any situation where it is necessary.
• Compliance with hospital health and safety requirements. Ability to safely operate and enter/exit vehicles, drive for extended periods and work in varied environmental conditions with potential exposure to machinery, noise, and hazardous materials.

The base pay range for this position is:

• Min $80,000 - Max $140,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Block Imaging offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.

Sign-On Bonus: Eligible new hires hired into this position at the San Luis Obispo, California location only will receive a one-time $5,000 sign-on bonus, paid on the employee’s first paycheck, subject to the terms of the company’s bonus program and applicable eligibility requirements. The bonus is subject to applicable taxes and payroll withholdings. Any requirement to repay previously paid bonus amounts will apply only if permitted by applicable law and set forth in a separate written agreement. This bonus offer may be modified or withdrawn at any time, consistent with applicable law.
