If you like solving technical problems, working with hardware and systems, and seeing a project come to life in the field, this role may be a strong fit. Our Software Project Engineers work in the office and at customer sites to configure, install, test, troubleshoot, document, and support real-world industrial systems.


You will need to do more than review technical information. You must be able to analyze, review, and interpret specifications, schematics, CAD drawings, reports, and system results, then use that information to make sound project decisions and complete the work accurately.

What You Will Do

  • Configure, install, integrate, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and support project systems.
  • Work hands-on with servers, switches, workstations, monitors, networking components, and related hardware.
  • Analyze, review, and interpret project requirements, schematics, CAD drawings, blueprints, technical reports, and other project documentation.
  • Run and evaluate system tests and reports, document results, and communicate clearly with teammates and customers.
  • Prepare and lead status updates while learning and following established project reporting practices.
  • Create clear technical documentation, including procedures, work instructions, test records, operating information, project submittals, and customer correspondence.
  • Support installation and service work in industrial customer environments.
  • Track work accurately, own assigned deliverables, and help projects stay on schedule.
  • Travel to customer sites when projects require it, sometimes for extended assignments or nonstandard work hours.

Requirements

Requirements for Successful Candidates

  • Candidates with an associate degree in engineering, computer technology, information technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Recent college graduates who have meaningful hands-on experience through internships, co-ops, project work, labs, military service, skilled trades, or employment while in school.
  • Information technology professionals or candidates from another technical field who want to move into hands-on project engineering and can demonstrate relevant hardware, networking, troubleshooting, documentation, project, and field-work experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills for daily status reports, emails, etc.
  • Professional, positive attitude willing and able to own your work and assignments while working as a collaborative team.

The Work Environment and Schedule

This role is active and hands-on. Before applying, please make sure the following work conditions fit what you are looking for:

  • Occasional lifting and carrying of approximately 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders and moving through project and customer work areas.
  • Bending, crouching, reaching, and working in tight or confined spaces.
  • Working in industrial environments that may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, or loud for extended periods.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment and following customer-site safety requirements.
  • Working a schedule that may be a standard daytime shift or a project-based shift such as 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
  • Providing periodic after-hours service support from home or onsite. It is not constant, but it is a regular part of the work.
  • Traveling to customer sites as project needs require.
