The Department is accountable and responsible for intelligence programs with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security (OUSW I&S), the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), and the Combatant Command Intelligence Directorates (J2). Roles & Responsibilities: In this role, you will serve as MITRE's lead computer scientist supporting US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) J2 in Tampa, Florida. You will work directly with military and civilian personnel to develop data-driven solutions that improve intelligence analysis, mission planning, and operational decision making. Qualified candidates will have a strong Combatant Command or Intelligence Community background with demonstrated technical experience in advancing intelligence analysis, data analytics, scalable data architectures, and intelligence mission planning capabilities. As a computer scientist, you will apply your expertise to leverage diverse tools, data architectures, and traditional and non-traditional data sources to address critical intelligence gaps. You will independently lead and execute technical efforts while collaborating with MITRE professionals and mission partners as needed to: * Support the J2 Intelligence Data Science Team by developing technical recommendations for all-source analysis, Common Intelligence Picture capabilities, scalable data architectures, data pipelines, and integration of traditional and non-traditional data sources
* Evaluate and recommend large language models, entity resolution, audio transcription, and other advanced analytic capabilities to improve intelligence workflows
* Design scalable data architectures and pipelines that scale for the integration of future data sources and evolving mission requirements
* Orchestrate and manage AI/ML model deployments to deliver reliable analytic capabilities in operational environments
* Collaborate with MITRE and government teammates to identify, prioritize, and solve the J2's most challenging technical problems
* Assess and improve technical approaches that enhance threat awareness and support operational requirements across USSOCOM mission partners
* Maintain strong communication with MITRE leadership and government stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful execution Selected candidates will demonstrate the following: * Domain/Technical Competence. Strong familiarity in one or more of the following areas: (1) Computer Science, (2) Mathematics, (3) Data Analytics, (4) Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, and (5) Cloud Engineering
* Leadership. Ability to provide trusted technical leadership, evaluate emerging technologies, and develop practical engineering solutions that support USSOCOM missions while operating within MITRE's FFRDC role
* Interpersonal Skills. Ability to partner with both senior military leaders and action officers to identify tactical, operational, and strategic challenges; and communicate task goals and impacts clearly and effectively
* Collaboration. Build relationships across MITRE to bring the right technical expertise, research, and corporate capabilities to USSOCOM and share lessons learned and technical products across the enterprise to strengthen future sponsor support
* Senior Engagements. Comfort and professionalism when engaging with senior government/military leaders, engineers, and commercial executives Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

* A strong understanding of intelligence support to Combatant Commands, the organizations of the Intelligence Community, and their responsibilities in support of intelligence collection, analysis, processing, and dissemination to support Commander priorities
* Recent (within the last five years) experience applying computer science in an operational or engineering environment
* Recent programming experience with Python, R, JavaScript and SQL
* Ability to analyze complex technical information and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
* Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain/maintain Polygraph
* Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements for a clearance, U.S. Citizenship is required.
* This position requires an on-site presence of 5 days a week Preferred Qualifications: * Strong knowledge of intelligence processes and systems in use or relied upon by Combatant Command J2s
* A clear understanding of the USSOCOM mission and related intelligence activities
* Recent experience with multi-domain intelligence data (PAI, CAI, traditional Intel), and its processing (data pipelines, structuring, models), storage, governance and visualization
* Recent experience with DevOps processes and associated tools, including GitLab, Docker and Kubernetes
* Recent experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines using Apache Airflow and related tools, with data integration with Amazon S3, Elasticsearch, and PostgreSQL
* Recent experience deploying and operating applications in cloud and hybrid environments, such as AWS, Azure, and OpenStack
* Master's degree in computer science (or related science, technology, engineering, or math field)
* Ability to rapidly understand unfamiliar mission problems and translate them into technical approaches
* Strong systems thinking and analytical problem-solving skills
* Ability to operate independently in a sponsor-facing environment with minimal supervision
* Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
