Job description

Job Summary:
Oklahoma State University is seeking a System Administrator for the College of Veterinary Medicine. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and is responsible for managing and troubleshooting IT infrastructure while ensuring security and access management.
Responsibilities:
• implement, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot VetMed IT core Infrastructure
• monitor VetMed core resources and VetMed core security
• respond to critical failures 24/7
• plan/coordinate infrastructure refresh/renewal cycles
• manage user accounts, access, permissions, and security policies using Active Directory and related security tools within the VetMed environment
Qualifications:
Required:
• High School/GED Four years of system administration experience or two years of post-secondary education and two years of related experience. Successful completion of a bachelor's degree is required within six years of hire.
• Bachelor's Degree Required With No Experience. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
• Must be eligible for employment in areas governed by the U.S. Patriot Act and the Public Health and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, 42 CFR 73, 7 CFR 331, and 9 CFR 121.
• Proven troubleshooting/critical thinking skills.
• VMware Infrastructure Knowledge.
• Understanding of Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft 365 technologies.
• Three plus years of Windows, Linux & VMware Administration.
• Engage in a Program of Continuous Learning.
Preferred:
• Bachelor's MIS, Computer Science or other related field.
• Five plus years of enterprise infrastructure experience in production environments; three plus years of VMware administration in enterprise environments; three plus years of Windows Server administration experience and/or Linux Servers administration experience; and experience supporting enterprise SAN environments and virtual server infrastructure.
• Experience with Server virtualization is required.
• VMware certification is preferred.
• CISSP, VMware or Microsoft certifications.
