Job Title: Computer and Information Research Scientist

Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Pay Range: $70,000–$82,000 per year

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Computer and Information Research Scientist to conduct advanced research and develop innovative hardware and software solutions supporting Department of Defense programs. The role focuses on applying computer science principles to solve complex technical challenges, develop emerging technologies, and support major defense weapon systems initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in computer and information science to develop innovative hardware and software solutions.
  • Analyze complex technical problems and develop effective computing solutions.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge and emerging technologies to support new applications and system capabilities.
  • Design and evaluate computer hardware, software, and supporting technologies.
  • Develop technical concepts, prototypes, and research solutions for defense applications.
  • Assign and prioritize technical tasks to meet program objectives and schedules.
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, vendors, and government stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Support the development of advanced computing technologies for major weapon systems programs.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve system capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • In lieu of a degree, 14 years of related experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years supporting Department of Defense weapon systems development or acquisition programs.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware, software development, and advanced computing technologies.
  • Experience conducting technical research, systems analysis, and solution development.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and government customers.
Clearance Requirements

Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance required.
