Job description

The Business Continuity Disaster Recovery (BCDR) Specialist role is responsible for facilitating the Hertz business continuity and disaster recovery program by providing services in the areas of technology and risk. The individual is responsible for operating across all areas of Hertz globally to provide security enhancements.

The successful candidate actively identifies and communicates control gaps as needed and helps to contribute to ongoing controls development and improvement.

This role has an impact on the business continuity/disaster recovery activities to the company on a global scale.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY

  • Advises leadership, functional areas, and lines of business of current and emerging continuity issues and consults on the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.
  • Partners with each line of business and functional area to understand critical business processes and the technologies that support these processes, documents Information System Continuity Plans.
  • Works with the Information Technology organization to understand back office processes that support the business and the technologies that support them, documents Information System Continuity Plans.
  • Identifies and documents recovery time objectives, recovery point objectives, and Business Impact Assessments.
  • Defines, gathers and reports on metrics regarding all IT continuity initiatives within the global Hertz environment.

DISASTER RECOVERY

  • Maintains disaster recovery plans.
  • Identifies system prioritization for recovery and garners approval from business executives and system owners.
  • Leads the annual disaster recovery testing with outsourced provider.
  • Works with internal and external teams to optimize the testing process to include recovery of total solutions: application, network, database, etc.
  • Generates and reports on metrics related to business continuity and disaster recovery.

COMMUNICATION

  • Expert communicative skills explain regulatory requirements and identifies risks in a succinct, easy-to-understand manner.
  • Educates Hertz employees/teams and drives sponsorship for the compliance program objectives.

TEAMWORK

  • Works closely with IT, Business Operations, and other functional area specialists to accomplish continuity and recovery goals.
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships across Hertz. Seeks out opportunities to partner with other stakeholders, internally and externally.

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, or relevant work experience. Required.
  • Security and/or business continuity and disaster recovery certifications.
  • 3+ years of BCDR experience, preferably in a global corporation.
  • Moderate knowledge of common regulatory, audit and compliance requirements (SOX, PCI, CCPA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Technical writing experience, policy, reports, continuity plans, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of information risk concepts and principles.
  • Knowledge of privacy and related initiatives.
  • Experience with common information security management frameworks, such as International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 2700x and the ITIL, COBIT, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) frameworks, CIS.
  • Experience with enterprise governance, risk, and compliance platforms, as well as a wide range of automated security tools.
  • Experience in developing, documenting and maintaining policies, processes, procedures and standards.
