Job description

GTSC and its Global Sciences and Technology (GST) business unit seeks an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, secure, and support enterprise network infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead network initiatives from planning through execution. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SonicWall firewalls and Cisco switches in complex, production environments. This position has been approved for a hybrid work schedule but will work onsite at our Fairmont, WV office. Primary Duties: โ€ข Design, implement, and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable network infrastructure โ€ข Configure, manage, and troubleshoot SonicWall firewalls, including VPNs, security policies, and threat management โ€ข Install, configure, and support Cisco switches, including VLANs, routing, QoS, and switch stacking โ€ข Monitor network performance, availability, and security, proactively addressing issues โ€ข Lead network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement projects โ€ข Troubleshoot complex network issues across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN environments โ€ข Collaborate with systems, security, and application teams to ensure network alignment with business needs โ€ข Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures โ€ข Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership โ€ข Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices โ€ข Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed Required Education/Experience/Skills: โ€ข Bachelorx27s degree in computer science or related field of study โ€ข 7 or more years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environments โ€ข Proven experience with SonicWall firewalls (configuration, management, and troubleshooting) โ€ข Strong experience with Cisco switches (Catalyst, Nexus, or similar) โ€ข In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP preferred), and VPN technologies โ€ข Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools โ€ข Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Applicants selected will be subject to a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements.
