Job Summary:
The University of Virginia is seeking applicants for Research Associate positions in the Department of Computer Science. The role involves investigating LLM-enabled abuse in digital advertising and developing frameworks for safer AI-driven advertising ecosystems.
Responsibilities:
• Investigate emerging forms of LLM‑enabled abuse in digital advertising
• Develop measurement frameworks to detect automated scams and manipulative targeting behaviors
• Design mitigation strategies that support safer and more transparent AI‑driven advertising ecosystems
• Enhance skills in teaching, mentoring, and proposal development
Qualifications:
Required:
• A Ph.D. in computer science, information systems, marketing analytics, statistics, math, or other related fields by the start date.
• Research experience in large language models and their applications in digital platforms, online advertising, or marketing systems.
• Particular interest in LLM-enabled abuse, manipulation, or misuse (e.g., fraud, deceptive advertising, adversarial content, or policy evasion).
