Job description

Are you a results‑driven, team‑oriented engineering leader? This is the opportunity for you! As an Engineering Services Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range, from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent your functional department at all management‑level meetings. You’ll ensure that your functional department's deliverables meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff, and provide technical direction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the configuration of critical aerospace and defense projects for the Digital Technology Group (DTG) organization, ensuring the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Product Data, including Parts, Drawings, and Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Perform and lead comprehensive audits and verification of product configurations to ensure compliance with the highest customer requirements, company and industry standards.
  • Lead the preparation and documentation required for product structure and configuration management.
  • Direct the configuration change management process, including evaluating, implementing, and tracking complex changes.
  • Collaborate with senior management, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and resolve critical configuration issues.
  • Maintain and manage comprehensive records and documentation related to configuration management activities.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance configuration management practices.
  • Manage and mentor a team of configuration analysts, providing technical leadership and support.
  • Represent your team in management‑level meetings and provide updates on project status.
  • Support the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the CM department.
  • Ensure the productive use of labor hours and resources.
  • Provide direction and support to your team to achieve project objectives.
  • Oversee the training and development of staff to enhance their skills and competencies.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of your team’s activities with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of projects, identifying and addressing any potential issues or risks.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance in all CM activities.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in configuration management or a related field within the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Expert proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and configuration management principles including ASME, EIA-649 and MIL-HDBK-61.
  • Strong attention to detail and superior documentation skills.
  • Experience working in multi‑disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Ability to lead a team of Configuration Analysts.
  • Thorough understanding of Documentation Control Database systems.
Qualifications – Prefer
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of components supporting custom electronic assemblies with complex RF functions and Digital to Analog circuits.
  • Familiarity with hardware design workflow for complex mechanical packaging and enclosing custom Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs).
  • Extensive experience with advanced PLM tools such as PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, or Dassault Systèmes ENOVIA/3DX.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory and industry standards related to configuration management defined by ASME, EIA-649 and MIL-HDBK-61.
  • Strong familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Experience using Project Data Management (PDM)/PLM systems such as Windchill, Enovia 3Dxperience, Siemens TeamCenter software, and CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS, Creo, NX, ProEngineer, AutoCAD, CATIA, OrCad, Cadence Allegro.
  • Knowledge of industry‑standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model‑based definition, material hardware and/or electrical component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes.
  • Understanding of the engineering release and control process for all data associated with systems, mechanical, electrical, printed circuit board and/or software products.
  • Experience with AS 9100, ISO 9001, EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, IEEE 828 and/or Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).
  • Ability to rapidly work on projects involving both small and large Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams.
  • Skilled in product configuration definition and product structure development.
  • Ability to generate and maintain Product Structures compliant with all product line items required by various Engineering and Operations groups.
  • Certification in Configuration Management disciplines.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, requiring regular use of hand and finger dexterity.
  • Conduct regular meetings and reviews, requiring strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Work under tight deadlines in high‑pressure environments.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Regularly assess and improve engineering processes and procedures, requiring analytical and strategic thinking skills.
