Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable and resilient telemetry pipelines for logs, metrics, and traces.
  • Spearhead the strategy, rollout, and support for the OpenTelemetry collector across thousands of services.
  • Design and build capabilities for data governance, cost allocation, and resource management within the observability platform.
  • Act as a thought leader, driving the adoption of observability best practices across the engineering organization.
  • Author and maintain productionโ€‘grade Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and/or Crossplane.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex, crossโ€‘cutting production incidents related to the observability platform.
  • Explore and utilize a wide variety of technologies and tools, such as Go, Java, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, and Clickhouse.
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building and operating largeโ€‘scale distributed systems, infrastructure automation, or configuration management
  • Deep expertise in observability principles and the โ€œthree pillarsโ€: logs, metrics, and traces
  • Strong handsโ€‘on proficiency with observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, and OpenTelemetry
  • Proficient in one or more of: Go, Java, Python
