Design Engineer
  •     Ensure that the QMS confirms to ISO 9001:2015
  •     Ensure processes are delivering intended outcomes
  •     Report to Top Management on the performance of the QMS; on opportunities for improvement; on change requirements; on innovations
  •     Ensure the promotion of customer focus
  •     Ensure the integrity of the QMS is maintained

Roles & Responsibilities
    Responsible for the design, development, and documentation of low to medium voltage switchgear and power distribution systems
    Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and MCM quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
    Design and develop electrical switchgear systems including - general requirements, elevation and plan views, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control circuits.
    Select and specify electrical components such as breakers, relays, CTs, PTs, bus bars, and protective devices.
    Create and revise engineering drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, E-Plan).
    Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE).
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical designers, project managers, and manufacturing teams.
    Review and interpret customer specifications and provide technical input during submittal, production, and post-shipment phases.
    Maintain project documentation and provide timely updates to project stakeholders.
Work Environment:
    Self-directed, able to work autonomously or with limited direct supervision, receives general instructions on new assignments.
    Typical work week - 40 hrs.
    This is an on-site position unless approval is given by management based on a major life change 
    Willingness to work 10% overtime as needed.
    Travel is not required for this position.

    Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills while successfully managing many concurrent projects
    Define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner
    Communicate clearly and effectively
    Read and understand contracts, specifications, technical drawings, procedures, and manuals
    Approach others in a tactful manner, react well under pressure, treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position, accept responsibility for own action, and follow through on commitments.

Experience & Education:
The well-qualified Design Engineer will have:
    A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, or an Electrical Emphasis of a more General Engineering degree
    A technical degree or certificate with a minimum of three years' relevant experience
    3+ years of experience in switchgear or power distribution equipment design.
    Experience with AutoCAD, E-Plan, and Microsoft software
    Familiarity with low and medium voltage systems (up to 38kV).
    Strong understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
    Knowledge of relevant electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, etc.).
    Hands-on experience in manufacturing or field service of switchgear.
