Job description

A Tech Team Technician provides first-level support for personal computer equipment, operating system software, and company-standard desktop applications for Knife River Corporation and its subsidiaries. This position is responsible for placing safety as the number one priority in daily work activities and routines for both self and others.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires knowledge of information technology concepts at a level normally acquired through the completion of a two-year degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or equivalent experience supporting company standard hardware and software, including but not limited to mobile devices, laptops, tablets, desktops, and peripherals.

Preferred Requirements:

  • CompTIA A+ and Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certifications preferred.

Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Tend to the Help Desk according to established schedules including overtime hours as required and time periods that extend beyond the normal business hours of 5:00 AM – 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday and Friday and 5:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems associated with company standard personal computer hardware and software for the employees of Knife River Corporation.
  • Escalates issues as needed and works with other IT Teams to provide a resolution while maintaining call ownership to ensure incidents have been addressed.
  • Provides comprehensive verbal or written communications to resolve problems within established policies and procedures.
  • Document incident and resolution for future reference.
  • Installs, configures, and upgrades company standard personal computer hardware and software to operate in a stand-alone or networked environment at local and remote company locations, such as Intel-based personal computers and associated peripheral equipment, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office products, and related software applications.
  • Attends technical training to remain abreast of new products and services.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Performs onsite support where needed, some travel, including overnight stays, will be required.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

  • Requires good problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of customer service practices.
  • Effectively communicate oral and written instructions.
  • Solid technical skills of computer networks, hardware, and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients from all levels in the corporation.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Participate in and effectively work with highly specialized information technology professionals to deliver support services to any of the Knife River Corporation locations.
  • Manage projects from start to completion as assigned by your supervisors.
  • Self-motivated to learn new technologies and relay that information to the team member.
