Job description

Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software or Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field (Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering preferred). Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
As a lead systems engineer for the Guidance Program, you'll lead a cross functional team responsible for design and development of Test Equipment for the Guidance System of the Trident II D5LE2 Ballistic Missile. Following our GDMS Leadership Expectations, you'll work with your team to design equipment that is used to support and test the next iteration of the Missile Guidance System.

  • Understanding/experience of the Systems Engineering Development/Methodogy
  • Software Development Experience preferred (with the following areas of forcus):
    • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
    • Docker/Podman
    • Embedded programming (C/C++/Python)
    • Networking/Middleware
    • MATLAB
  • Experience with Lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) preferred
  • Demonstrate a passion for innovation, sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems, and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
  • Integrate and utilize AI at work within daily tasking
    • AI Assisted Engineering - Ability to leverage generative AI tools to accelerate systems engineering tasks.
    • AI Fluency - Comfort working with enterprise AI platforms and multiple AI models with following established guidelines for handling CUI and proprietary data.
    • Continuous AI learning - Willingness to stay current with evolving AI capabilities and adopt new AI-enabled workflows to improve engineering productivity and quality.
