Description

Emory SPARC (Sport Performance And Research Center) is a recognized leader in injury prevention and human performance research, driving diverse projects across professional sports, musculoskeletal science, and advanced clinical care. Central to this mission is the ability to communicate complex scientific information in a compelling, accessible, and professional manner to a wide range of audiences.

SPARC is seeking a talented Web Developer to support center-wide initiatives, including web application development and maintenance, graphic design, and scientific communication and illustration.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Designs and creates intuitive and applicable user experiences through information architecture, graphic design and user interface development for websites and applications.
  • Conducts research through analysis of current behaviors and future needs, interviewing key stakeholders and target audiences, and studying leading practices and emerging trends.
  • Identifies and documents user and technical requirements.
  • Develops production quality mock-ups and clickable prototypes as well as production ready graphics, interfaces, templates, and sites.
  • Develops final production XHTML and CSS code and web templates and implements solutions within publishing environments.
  • Consults with stakeholders and users to determine cost effective and high quality solutions and advises on the feasibility and direction for website initiatives.
  • Evaluates the usability of designs through usability testing and personal expertise.
  • May act as a liaison between the department/division and contractors to ensure the expected level of quality with deliverables.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications and digital platforms that support SPARC's research and outreach objectives
  • Create visually engaging graphics and digital assets for scientific publications, presentations, and promotional materials
  • Collaborate with researchers and staff to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, audience-appropriate visual and digital content
  • Ensure web content is accessible, responsive, and aligned with Emory University's branding and technical standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in the design and development of websites, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Graphic design, user interface design and/or information architecture experience preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining web applications
  • Strong ability to create engaging graphics and other content
  • Experience with scientific, biomedical, or sports-related applications
  • Familiarity with scientific illustration or data visualization
  • Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks and content management systems
