Job Description

The Assistant Director of Marketing & Fan Development will support the marketing department efforts for fan and student engagement initiatives at Virginia Tech, working to create memorable and unique experiences.
This position will report to the Assistant AD for Marketing & Fan Development, within the Brand Advancement team, with the goal of overseeing the implementation and management of marketing strategies to drive attendance, promotion, and engagement of athletic events, as well as increase the overall visibility of Virginia Tech Athletics. Duties will include development and implementation of marketing plans for select sports, fan experience initiatives and enhancement of fan engagement with Virginia Tech Athletics. In addition, individual will work collaboratively with internal units including but not limited to In-Venue Experience, Ticket Sales, Digital Strategy & Innovation and Creative.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary marketing lead for Women's Basketball and Baseball, developing and implementing external plans detailing efforts to drive attendance and revenue, promote games, engage the community and elevate the fan, student and student-athlete experience.
Primary oversight of marketing internship program, community engagement initiatives and the Maroon & Orange Memories exclusive experiences program.
Develop and oversee the football fan fest, Hokie Village, in collaboration with other units to drive engagement and revenue.
Collaborate with the In-Venue Experience team on ideation and execution of game production including but not limited to promotions, giveaways, video, music and crowd engagement.
Contribute as a member of the revenue generation focused squad in marketing strategy and sales efforts for all ticketed sports including Football, Basketball, and Baseball; Work collaboratively with the sales team on marketing and sales strategies for group ticket sales encompassing external groups and internal campus partnerships.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field with experience working in a marketing and fan development atmosphere.
Experience developing marketing plans; taking marketing plans from ideation through execution within a collaborative squad environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions.
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar computer programs.
Functional knowledge of appropriate NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations as it pertains to area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in marketing or a related field.
Experience working in an intercollegiate athletics marketing department.
Demonstrated success in executing marketing and promotional efforts.
Experience coordinating fan-focused special events.
Ticket promotions and sales experience.
