ASRC Federal Advanced Research (AFAR) supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Second Level Engineering (SLE) Groups who serve as the premiere Subject Matter Experts for NAS systems and equipment. Join our growing team as a Computer Scientist Level 3 in support of the SLE Automation and Tools Team.
Responsibilities:
  • Assignments may include but are not limited to: computer software problem identification, problem analysis, solution determination; requirements gathering; computer software solution design, development, integration, and testing; collecting, recording, and analyzing data/information; writing technical/management reports; performing computer software investigation and inspection activities; recommending improvements to the design or operation of systems, equipment, or processes; and providing SME technical support for new system acquisition efforts.
  • Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under limited direction.
  • Assists other employees or acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team.
  • Coordinates with a Technical Manager or more experienced computer scientist or engineer to plan time and use assigned resources to accomplish assignments.
  • Applies experience and advanced technical knowledge applicable to accomplish assignments and to develop plans and techniques to improve programs.
  • Understands how his/her technical area interacts with or is affected by other disciplines and considers the objectives of the external organizations when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems.
  • Contributes to the preparation of technical reports and may communicate the overall results of a project or work activity.
  • Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.
  • Work activities typically support and may be vital to the success of projects or activities of one or more organizational units. In some areas, the work may affect the safety and security of customers.

Requirements:
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years.
On-site presence will be as required by the FAA.
  • Ability to pass an FAA background investigation.
  • Must be local to the OKC area. Will need to have the ability to interface with hardware when needed.
  • Experience in hands-on front and backend web development; or have recently obtained a degree in this area with ability to demonstrate knowledge upon interview.
  • Required Technical Skills: 2 or more of the following -

Java/J2EE/
JavaScript, JQuery, Node, Angular/React, HTML, CSS, JSP, Tag Libraries
Spring,
PL/SQL,
Hibernate/Eclipse ORMs
Oracle/PostgreSQL Database
GIT, GitLab/GitHub, CICD
Maven, Ruby/RAILS
RESTful services
Highly desirable skills:
Oracle PL/SQL development
Installation and configuration of Oracle database and middleware
Information Systems Security / CIS practices
Linux shell scripting.
  • Nice to have: AI Frameworks and knowledge. Microservices, Containerization, SOA, DITA/Open Standard Document concepts
  • Must demonstrate initiative with minimal oversight
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation
  • Scripting - Bash, Perl, Python, etc.
  • Patching/Upgrading of OS
  • Monitoring system performance, security posture & vulnerability
  • VM Ware Virtualization Knowledge
  • Willingness to learn and try new things, for example Oracle database config & monitoring
  • Oracle database administration and development experience

Education/Experience:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Mathematics is required. -OR- A bachelor's degree with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted in lieu of the computer science degree, depending on other qualifications and experience.
  • Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is highly desirable.
