Instructional Student Assistant - Research Pool

POSITION

The Department of Computer Science at CSUF invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Research Pool. Research assistants support faculty-led research projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, software engineering, and data science. The ideal candidate will collaborate with faculty and student researchers to conduct literature reviews, collect and analyze data, develop software tools or prototypes, and assist with preparing research findings for publication or presentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of research experiments or systems.
  • Collect, process, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Develop or maintain code, scripts, or models as needed for research purposes.
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize key findings.
  • Assist in writing technical reports, research papers, and presentation materials.
  • Attend regular research meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of research activities and results.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in the Computer Science department
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students
  • Computer Science major; GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Eligible to work in the United State and can provide eligibility documents

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00
