Sensient is growing!! Come join Sensient in this exciting time as an Application Scientist within our Pharmaceutical Business Unit. This exciting and dynamic customer-facing role will be part of a lab-based team developing Sensient color, coating and flavor excipients for dietary supplements and pharmaceutical products. Our focus is on "non-active ingredients."
What You'll Do:
You will provide technical support and collaboration with colleagues to ensure projects are completed within the project timeline. Your lab outcomes will be application-based solutions with Sensient colors and coatings that offer unique value propositions, including commercially viable "Cost in Use" for customers.
Develop Subject Matter Expertise for optimal usage of Sensient excipients in key customer formats (e.g., gummies, beverages, chewable tablets, etc.).
Generate technical content and application samples for demonstration kits and product launches and conduct training for the technical and commercial teams.
Respond to and resolve customer inquiries relating to technical aspects of products and their use in customer applications.
Develop an understanding of customer product formulations and guide development and troubleshooting strategies for best results with Sensient colors and coatings.
Follow internal procedures for commercialization of new products and support production first runs and problem solving. Cross-train in flavor application and participate in sensory panels.
What You'll Bring:
University degree (B.S. or higher) in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, biological sciences, or related scientific discipline required.
Prior experience and understanding of formulation, development and production of technical ingredients is preferred. Knowledge of Analytical Analysis preferred.
Adaptability, learning agility, collaborative skills, planning and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in an effective manner are a must. Excellent communication skills, experience in working both autonomously as well as in a team are a must.
One to three years' experience in new product development and/or use of technical ingredients in consumable goods is preferred, especially in nutraceutical or pharmaceutical products.
Periodic (<20%) travel as needed.
