Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $115,000.00 Annually

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a full-time Web Application Developer to join a team responsible for the development, deployment, and maintenance of several websites and web-based applications within NASAโ€™s Earth Science Division. Our projects include engagement-focused websites driven by WordPress and Drupal, and knowledge management tools.

The ideal candidate is an experienced and forward-thinking web application developer โ€“ primarily focused on PHP using Drupal and WordPress โ€“ who has interests in a wide variety of application development opportunities. You will be part of a dynamic, virtual team experimenting with several different web-based platforms while collaborating and supporting cross-functional delivery teams that include fellow developers, designers, content producers, project management, and customer stakeholders.

Some of your work will be part of a larger effort, other work will involve self-directed efforts, but all are focused on delivering an experience to various internal and external audiences that will inform and create awareness about the breadth of knowledge and information held within NASAโ€™s Earth Science Division.

The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. The position is a full-time, remote position. While this team is distributed across several time zones, the team works primarily on an Eastern time schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or web design/development or comparable work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in deploying commercial or government websites and secure web applications/content management systems.
  • Drupal 10/11 maintenance and development, including custom module development.
  • Critical thinking focused on the delivery of architectures and solutions to challenges.
  • Sound experience in fundamental web technologies.
  • Ability to write maintainable and scalable code.
  • Ability to both take direction and work in a self-directed environment as an effective team member.
  • An interest in supporting NASAโ€™s communication and research goals.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Wordpress module development.
  • Developing in an Agile environment.
  • Experience using Docker, Composer, and Drush.
  • AWS administration experience (EC2, RDS, S3 and Application Load Balancers).
  • System/server administration and configuration.
