Position Description

Program Coordinators serve as the primary point of contact for their academic programs or schools/colleges with the Mason Korea Office of Academic Affairs. The Program Coordinators report to the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs.

Each Program Coordinator is appointed by the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs in consultation with the representative academic unit(s) that the Coordinator represents. Appointments are for two years, with the possibility of one additional two-year term. The Program Coordinator will be evaluated annually as part of the Annual Review Process; coordinators will be removed from their position if they receive an Unsatisfactory evaluation for their administrative service.

The Program Coordinator position provides a one-course release per semester. The expected average work time for the position is 8 hours per week. Program Coordinators will meet at least once per month with the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and will hold regular meetings with the local academic unit each semester. Program Coordinators who support multiple departments/programs/local academic units will work with the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs to determine the relevant local academic unit leaders with whom to meet.

The Program Coordinator position has the following roles and responsibilities:

• Serve as the Mason Korea liaison, conduit, and primary point of contact for their academicprograms or schools/colleges to discuss and address relevantprogram, faculty, and student matters
• Hold at least one meeting per month during each 16-week academic semester with the program faculty to discuss relevantprogram, syllabus, and course matters (e.g.,programinnovation,programenrollment strategies, teaching issues and strategies, common goals for teaching and students, and student advising), and to convey relevant and essential information from these meetings to the Associate Dean
• Coordinate at least one meeting during each 16-week academic semester between Mason Korea program faculty and the relevant US campus college/school leaders, advisors, and/or program coordinators
• Work with the Office of Academic Affairs on current and future course needs in support of the academicprograms
• Work with the Office of Academic Affairs on course scheduling
• Work with the Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs and the Campus Dean to identify future faculty needs in support of the academicprograms
• Serve as the hiring committee chair for new full-time faculty searches for the program, or work with the Associate Dean to find a local faculty member to serve as the hiring committee chair
• Support program faculty through peer mentoring and classroom observations, serving as coordinator of in-person observers for faculty in need of classroom observations
• Serve as faculty advisor by assisting in student recruitment and retention efforts, including supporting the Academic Affairs Retention Initiative
• Assist with Mason Korea assessment
• Perform other responsibilities to support the academicprogram(s)
