Vice President of FinancePosition Summary

A rapidly growing, employee-focused construction company is seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Finance to lead and scale its financial and administrative operations. This executive leadership role is responsible for building the financial infrastructure, systems, and processes needed to support long-term growth while providing accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and business insights to executive leadership. This is a hybrid position.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and an operational leader who enjoys improving processes, implementing scalable systems, and partnering with operations to drive business performance. Experience within construction, contracting, or project-based industries is strongly preferred.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership
  • Lead all financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide executive leadership with timely, accurate financial insights to support strategic decision making.
  • Develop financial models and performance metrics to monitor business health and profitability.
Cash Flow & Financial Management
  • Oversee cash flow, working capital, and capital planning.
  • Manage banking relationships, debt reporting, lender communications, and covenant compliance.
  • Support bonding, insurance, and financing requirements by providing accurate financial information.
Project Financial Performance
  • Ensure accurate job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and project profitability analysis.
  • Partner with operations leadership to improve project financial visibility and performance.
  • Identify financial risks early and recommend corrective actions.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting, payroll, ERP, and financial reporting systems.
  • Lead implementation of scalable financial processes, internal controls, and reporting tools.
  • Improve workflows that increase efficiency and support continued company growth.
Accounting & Administrative Leadership
  • Oversee accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and general accounting.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate annual financial reviews or audits with external accounting partners.
  • Lead administrative functions and develop scalable policies, procedures, and controls.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
  • Experience leading finance within construction, contracting, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-based industries is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting.
  • Experience managing banking relationships, audits, debt compliance, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated success implementing financial systems and improving business processes.
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to partner across operations and leadership teams.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing finance and administrative teams.
