What You'll Do

KBR is looking for highly motivated rising Juniors, Seniors and Graduate students seeking science, engineering and software development opportunities that provide challenging and meaningful work experience to be a part of our 2026 Intern class.

KBR is recruiting full-time Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Interns for the summer term. MBSE is the formalized application of modeling to support system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation. At KBR, Model-Based Systems Engineers support government customers in engineering design, acquisitions, and education and training. MBSE interns at KBR will implement MBSE using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), the most widespread language for systems modeling.

As a National Security Solutions Intern, you will:

  • Explore Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches for defense applications
  • Develop curriculum to train engineers in systems theory and MBSE
  • Gain a wide breadth of experience in SysML modeling to support MBSE education

Selected interns for this paid opportunity will be provided with the opportunity to mentor with experienced professionals, gain experience and establish a name for themselves in this high demand career field.

Anticipated Skill Set:

  • Experience with Python,MatLab, C++, Java or similar coding languages.
  • Learn and apply state-of-the-art scientific coding practices
  • Perform validation and regression testing of new and existing MATLAB scientific code
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel
  • Major fields of study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other scientific/engineering/technical degree with appropriate experience.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

  • Average 40 hours per week.

Requirements:

  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.

Basic Compensation:

$19.00 - $31.00 per hour (This range is for the Colorado area only).

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
