Summary

Responsible for rapid data abstraction in the Cancer Registry in compliance with the American College of Surgeon's, Commission on Cancer accreditation program and the mandated reporting requirements of the Florida State Cancer Registry (FCDS). Responsible for data retrieval, data comprehension and data integration in the full spectrum of all disease sites of cancer (Diagnosis; Clinical and Pathological Staging; SEER Summary Staging and First Course Treatment Coding and classification). Technical qualifications including knowledge of the disease process, diagnostic methods and procedures, composition of the health record, data interpretation, and statistical and analytical skills. Skilled in the use of the following standardized coding and classification sets: International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICD-O), Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) Multiple Primary and Histology rule set, Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) Hematopoietic and Lymphoid Neoplasm Coding Manual and Database, Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) RX - Interactive Drug Database, American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) TNM direct staging of all cancer sites, Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS), and the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) Data Acquisition Manual.

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL is recruiting for a Cancer Registry Abstractor.For Florida residents and other select states, this full-time remote position offers a flexible work arrangement after successful completion of the 90-day introductory period. Position tiersmay vary according to experience.
The Cancer Registry department at Moffitt Cancer Center is dedicated to the provision of timely, complete data of the highest standards of quality. Abstractorsare responsible forreviewing all available information and capturing a high-quality comprehensive data set in compliance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACS/CoC), the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS), and the business needs of the department.Responsible for abstracting demographic information, medical history, diagnostic findings, cancer management information, first course of treatment, and survival information from patients' medical records and other sources accurately into the Cancer Registry database.
A successful candidate willpossess:
AnOncology Data Specialist (ODS)credential for all tiers
