Job description

The Standardization Instructor provides instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of the unit Non-rated Crewmembers.


  • Conducts student training in one or more courses of instruction involving any and all aspects of helicopter repair and proper operation of assigned special tools and equipment
  • Serves as subject matter expert in the theory of helicopter systems operation
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge and a technical proficiency in systems operation
  • Exercises responsibility to participate in and/or recommend the development, redesign, technical accuracy, and quality control of Program of Instruction (POI), course curriculum and training devices associated with system instruction
  • Administers, grades and critiques written and performance examinations, and practice exercises and examinations; evaluates student progress, conducts official counseling and remedial instruction as required
  • Willing to conduct training in a field environment
  • Applies a combination of instructional methods and techniques including conference/lecture, demonstration, practical exercise, seminar, programmed instruction, and computer assisted operational training
  • Employs training aids and equipment, television, film and document image projectors, and audio players/records and tapes to present instructional material
  • Prepares for classes by reviewing lesson plans, instructor guides, course materials, references and training aids
  • Contributes to the development and redesign of programs of instruction, including updating and modifying training objectives, actions, conditions, and standards
  • May participate as a member of a standardization committee
  • Conducts cross training of other instructors as required
  • Recommends course content changes and participates in the development of different approaches or methods as needed
  • Assists in arranging and writing lesson plans and related course material such as handouts, instructor guides, written exercises, written examinations, and associated outlines, programmed texts, and audio/visual materials
  • Selects and synthesizes relevant, applicable aspects of directives, regulations, manuals, industry publications, and related references for tests, guides, handouts, exercises, aids, and examinations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree is a plus
  • CH-47 Flight Instructor / Standardization Course (NRCM)
  • The Army Instructor Training Course – TAITC is a plus

        Experience / Requirements:

  • Flight or Standardization Instructor Experience in a CH-47F within the last 3 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a FAA Class II Flight Physical
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30-50%
  • Must have Flight Records on hand
  • Instructor/Writer/Developer experience is a plus
